A Study on the Relationship between Attitude of Clinical Nurses Toward Professional Nursing and Job Satisfaction


Abstract
This study was attempted for the purpose of presenting some data helpful for effective nursing performance through investigating nurse¢¥s attitude toward professional nursing and job satisfaction.
Data were obtained from 153 nurses selected by convenience from the population of nurses working in 4 hospitals in J City. The tool used for this study was a questionnaire which was applied at the earlier work by Lee, Nam-Hee and Kim Myong-Hee data were collected during the period from April 20 to April 30, 1991 and analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and Pearson correlation coefficient.
The result of this study were as follows;
1. The general characteristics of the respondents showed that the age group of 25 ^y 29 years old was 49.7 %, unmarried nurse was 71.2 %, Buddhist was 31.4 %, the educational background of diploma graduation was 82.4 %, the length of work within 3 years was 51.6 %, staff nurse was 81.7 %.
2. Social position of the nursing as profession;
The response with the highest agreement was rNurse get a certificate easily, (mean score 3.31)J the response with the lowest agreement was Nurse get a big salary, (mean score 1.96)
3. Their work;
The response with the highest agreement was Nurses are unkind to patients(3.85) the response with the lowest agreement was Nursing task was hard loading (1.97)
4. Factors influencing the development of nursing;
The response with the highest agreement was Nurses are proud of her job (3.47) the response with. the lowest agreement was The accepting response of the public regarding nursing is low (1.92)
5. The future of nursing;
The response with the highest agreement was The level of quality and educational degree will be high (3.82) the response with the lowest agreement was Social image of nursing will be good (3.12)
6. The relationship between the respondent¢¥s attitude toward professional nursing and their general characteristics showed a significant difference statisfically in regard to position and field of work.
7. The respondent¢¥s view regarding job satisfaction;

The response with the highest satisfaction was [-Interpersonal nursing staffs (3.44)j, the response with the lowest satisfaction was "-In salary with bonus (2.03)
8. The correlation between the respondent¢¥s attitude toward professional nursing and job satisfaction revealed a positive correlation in regard to the future of nursing and their work.
